FROM CORPORATE GIFTS TO COMMUNITY GIFTS
This Christmas, Newcastle-based business services firm Forsythes has decided to make a donation to the Nicholas Trust and Samaritans Foundation in lieu of giving corporate Christmas gifts to their valued clients.
The Nicholas Trust is for Paediatric Palliative Care in our Region.
It is estimated that within our region 300 to 400 children, under the age of 18, suffer a life-limiting illness. 40 to 50 of these children will die this year. The Nicholas Trust is committed to the care of children in the final stages of their young lives. The trust aims to achieve the establishment of services and facilities specialised to the needs of children in palliative care and their extended families. Furthermore the trust is a voice advocating for the provision of palliative services for children.
The Samaritans Foundation promotes acceptance, justice, reconciliation, peace and dignity for all.
Samaritans’ mission is to seek to provide unconditional support to people in need and to promote social and economic policies that alleviate human suffering. Samaritans provides effective and professional social welfare services within a community development framework, with particular regard to those who are marginalised through disability, injustice and lack of opportunity.
“We are very proud to work closely with the Nicholas Trust and Samaritans Foundation throughout the year and are pleased to be able to make an additional donation to these very worthy charities at this special time of the year. We’re sure that our clients join us in supporting the important work that these organisations undertake for families and those in need within the Hunter and surrounding regions,” said Forsythes CEO, Mr Paul Hankinson.
“We’d like to thank Forsythes for their generosity this Christmas and for their significant support over the past year as our major corporate partner. Forsythes has been critical in helping us to raise awareness of the aims of the Nicholas Trust. The trust aims to achieve the establishment of services and facilities specialised to the needs of children in palliative care and their extended families in the Hunter and Northern Health Network,” said Nicholas Trust Founder and Trustee, Mrs Jennifer Butters.
"We're thrilled that Forsythes has taken this initiative. It’s a great example to other businesses and will make such a difference to us. With the increases in rents and grocery bills as well as the number of people still suffering from the floods, we are seeing more people than ever coming to our Emergency Relief, in financial difficulty. Samaritans will use these funds to help these families and also pay for much needed gifts to be handed out at our Samaritans Christmas Lunch in the Park,” said Samaritans Fundraising Manager, Libby Rodgers-McPhee.
“Our partnership with Forsythes is growing stronger each year. We treasure their loyalty and enthusiasm in embracing the Samaritan’s core values of compassion, integrity and justice. Their support through this action and sponsoring of the Collectors Care Art Exhibition is a perfect example of corporate social responsibility,” Ms Rodgers-McPhee said.
With more than 50 years experience, Forsythes combines a tradition of business expertise with innovative thinking and state-of-the-art systems in a dynamic commercial environment. Forsythes provides services in Accounting, Audit, Financial Planning, Forensic Accounting, Insolvency, IT & Training and Recruitment to a client-base that is rapidly expanding within and beyond the Hunter.
